Success of coupled ADR pilot tests - X-IFU

Date.

We’re delighted to share with you one of the latest news on the project’s progress.

At the end of 2023, successful tests were carried out at CEA DSBT in Grenoble. The aim was to perform a first-ever electrical coupling between the Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerator (ADR) coil driver breadboard from CEA DAP with the ADR stage from CEA DSBT.

The coupling went very well. It enabled us to identify a number of areas for improvement in the design of the electronic board and the management of the coil drive, so as to ensure good thermal stability at 50 mK. This ultimate goal will provide the X-IFU instrument’s detectors with the thermal environment required for its measurements.
