The 13th X-IFU Consortium Meeting (CM13) took place virtually from 3 to 7 May 2021.

In this now familiar virtual setting, Consortium members gathered to follow the latest updates about the instrument. 34 speakers presented their most recent work over 3 plenary sessions and a technical session. They showed, once more, the quality of the work performed by our Consortium members.

The team is very much getting ready for the next important steps:

  • The Intermediate Review of the Science Instrument Module (where the X-IFU and WFI will be located). This review will be completed by July 2021 and mainly aims to evaluate the critical interfaces of this Module;
  • The System Requirement Review scheduled for January 2022.

Participants also welcomed a special guest speaker. Olivier Berné from IRAP joined the meeting to introduce the Labos1point5 initiative: a cross-disciplinary collective of academic researchers aiming to reduce the environmental impact of research. This talk was the second instalment in a series of environmental talks that are part of our objective to raise the awareness of our consortium regarding the climate crisis. You can find more information about our commitments on this page.

Lastly, this meeting was the perfect moment to introduce the brand-new X-IFU website. After reading this article, we invite you to keep exploring and discover our new pages.

Thank you again to our many speakers, chairs, and participants!
